Applications

The commercial potential is immense: the range of applications is so great and varied that no one corporation can expect to develop them all.

Limited-application licences will be granted to extend and exploit specifically-described uses of the intellectual property, and interested parties should contact us to discuss terms. All intellectual property rights will be retained.

Examples of possible uses include rapid diagnostic identification of diseases such as Clostridium difficile, E. coli, Campylobacter and Norovirus, where current techniques are too slow when dealing with an acute, explosive outbreak. Recent occurrences in NHS hospitals in Britain and on cruise liners illustrate the importance of rapid, accurate diagnosis down to the level of the strain involved, because otherwise much effort is wasted on harmless strains, or the infection is allowed to spread unchecked by inappropriate treatment.

The food industry needs to test for the presence of harmful things, such as, again, Campylobacter, on the farm, at the point of importation or before a food product is released to the consumer. Rapid and accurate testing, once it is available, will rapidly become the norm and be required by law.

A separate, specific test to each harmful substance or organism will be deployed and exploited.

Applications to use this technology for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other medical conditions will be treated differently, and may not be on a fully-commercial basis. Enquiries welcome.
